While haunting gunshops on both sides of the Pennsylvania border with western New York over Chrismas, I ran into a very simple combination gun in .22 long rifle over a .410 shotgun. Made by Stevens (Model 22/410), it was surprisingly nicely shaped and finished, even the fake wood stock (plastic) didn't look hideous. Did anyone ever make a better version of this unit, in perhaps more useful calibers? .223 over 20-gauge comes to mind.
