I have experienced more delays flying with ammo then flying with guns. Depending on the airport I find that where I fly from they always weigh the ammo to make sure it's 11 pounds or under. Your mileage may vary but I wouldn't try going over that amount. You can put it in the suitcase no problem just watch that you don't go over the weight requirement for your baggage.
