First thing I noticed is that the ball at the end of the gauge is not going to measure at the bottom of a pit. That really limits the usefulness of the gauge. I was thinking of a way to attach a small brass point to the ball. I was thinking I could either use a drill press to open up a spot, or I could rough up the spot and try blackmax 380, or some other adhesive.
I would be interested in the parts and assembly instructions that others have used to construct a gauge at Home Depot. Is that available somewhere?
