I am considering having some barrels refinished. Any recommendations on who does good work on black and white type damascus fininshing?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I have used Keith Kearcher in Bend Oregon a few times. His phone number is 541-617-9299. It won't cost you as much if you do your own polishing.

Dewey did a beautiful job on a friend's LC hammer gun twist barrels. Came out very dark with very light bands. I will contact him and see if he has pictures and will post here. He is a member here.

Here are a couple of Dewey's

Kearcher doesn't do B&W, only brown.

Revdocdrew, I have a nice ithaca with a nice damascus pattern but it does not 'stand out' as in these pictures, is that because it needs to be redone? What is the process and is it expensive?

Murph: This is ONLY my opinion, but I'm proud to carry and use a gun with honest use and wear. I believe re-case and damascus re-coloring should only be part of a full gun restoration (returning to like new condition) but it's entirely your decision.
Last I heard, Dale Edmonds was charging about $250. Dave M has some brls with him right now and should be along.

Thanks for the pictures. I agree that the gun should be overall consistent, so wood should be refreshed or refinished as well. I do love to see the pattern, however, on damascus guns. I doubt they went to all that effort in patterns, to simply rust it over so you could not see it. I am, however, very reticent to recase the receivers. Don't like polished bright, and don't mind a graying action, if it helps preserve the engraving.
