Dewey,
The future owner just may know more than many here think, about peep sights. They can be extremely fast, and accurate, with the disc removed and using only the large threaded hole. I've hunted deer many times with my round ball m/l rifle with the large disc (with the tiny aperture) removed. Excellent for low light conditions, and for running game.
I look forward to seeing the results of the regulation and sighting in. And the finishing, of course.
SRH
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Dewey, please tell us about that forend iron shown in those pics. JR If you look at the first forend iron photo you can see that the far side is still square where it meets the wood, the near side has been chiseled and filed to a more pleasing form. In the second photo both sides are done.

Very Nice!
Are the fresh tubes threaded or just sweated into the mono-block? Thanks Mike. The barrels are pressed and sweated as in standard sleeving/monobloc practice. There are a couple of photos of the barrels at that stage.

Honestly I like the peep....older guy eyes (at least me) have trouble with the v-blades. In fact; I'd probably do away with the middle sight and put nice flat QD arrangement there for a mini red dot to augment the peep when the lights get low.
The peep arrangement surprised me especially since it's a pretty traditional scale up of a basic rifle design....A cooler arrangement would be a ghost ring as part of the top lever....and since we know the man can do metal work....why not!

I was not happy with the first incarnation of the rear sight slide so I pitched it and started from scratch. Here is the new rear sight slide. Here is the blank that I will be using. Here is a "before" shot of the gun in its buffed and blued finery. I have a plan for hiding the screwheads, once it is executed I will post photos.
