I can't find the thread with the pictures. Can someone bring it to the top?

I will chime in with what little I know. I think the swivels, the buttplate and barrel stamp are Niedner. I do not think the stock was done by Shelhamer even if stippling and forend tip are added later. I also am not sure about the pistol grip cap. I think if Shelhamer made a stock like this he would have sawed it in half and burned it before it left the shop (this is something he did once in a while)

I'm with Terry and John too Dan. Looks like Howe all the way. It's even got a little dot of ivory(?) at the very front of the forend tip.

I was looking for you on Saturday at Tulsa - I didn't see any of your crew. I picked up a pretty cool Owen 54 Winchester. I'll try to get a post together with some pictures.

nice find!

Nice shooting - and a very nice rifle.

What sort of bullets? Cast or jacketed and how heavy?

I made 14 rounds of brass, that's how many were in a box I had. Then I found 12 Lyman 257312 cast bullets and made up a load to try. After bore sighting I shot these first 5 rounds at 100 yds. Used the rest of the 12 I had loaded to adjust the sight to the center. Now I have to cast some more of the bullets. I did find some heavier cast bullets and not sure what mold they are from but will give them a try.
I think 257312 is around 90 grs and the heavier ones are around 110 grs. I'll have to dig out the Lyman manuals to see for sure.
Brent, we need to meet sometime as I am in Iowa City. Seems we both know Bill Barglof.

Dan,
I've got a father in law in Hiawatha and we sometimes attend gunshows over there. That might be a good way to meet up.
