No such critter as a Grade 5 VHE. Nice gun, but it's just a VHE.

A week ago I contacted the seller via email and explained it was a grade 0 and supplied a link to the PGCA grade identification site. Guess he didn't appreciate the attempted help.....

Joe no seller wants to hear his rare Grade 5 is a zero. He is not the first or last seller who thinks his gun is rare and priced well above real value. I like the guns which have been engraved by Ray Charles listed as factory engraved pristine guns. With engraving like that I understand why they went out of business.

Was Ray Charles an actual factory engraver or a later after market guy, or a blind man joke? I am actually serious as I am to lazy to look up the data on the Parker website. Also the gun is a refinish and looking at the muzzles the barrels sure appear cut to me

Ray Charles was a blind person. Some of the gaudy, amateurish engraving could have been done by a blind man. When a scroll gets too large, too deep and too crude only a blind man could love it. After market or home engraving is one upgrade best left alone. Several years ago a rare Parker 28 Ga. Was floating around with after market engraving that was dreadful. I looked at it and was convinced there was no way to remove the engraving and no way to get it corrected or cleaned up. It was hideous. Price was still for a rare engraved Parker 28. What a crime to screwup a rare gun like that.

No, I believe the gun is totally original and in very high original condition. Even believe the pad is probably factory original. And I see Jay Shachter is the high bidder. He certainly knows his guns!

It is a fine gun in great condition, but the high bid price that didn't make reserve is high enough. I will assume the high bidder will make a deal for the gun and we won't see it again on the auction site.

Joe I did not mean to imply that gun was not. I was lamenting the 28 I wanted to buy that had been "engraved in the factory style". This gun does look mint from the detail I can see in the pictures. Not many mint guns left after 75 or so years.
