Those sure were the days! I remember racks and racks of surplus rifles cheap, even for those days and of course all the ads in the back of Sporting Mags selling all sorts of firearms. Just send the $$ and the gun came to your front door. Then......the GCA of 68! Oh well days gone by!

Best!

Guys, the problem is the shipping agent...not the FFLs. USPS will not accept a gun unles its from an FFL, even though the ATF doesn't require it. I tried to ship my own gun from Florida to myself in NoDak but the USPS wouldn't accept it. End of story from their point of view. I showed them the ATF website, they said it's USPS policy to only deal with FFLs. And UPS and Fed Ex are just as bad. Unfortunatley, the easy answer is to just ship via FFLS and pay the extra $25-50 bucks. Damn Libtards...Join the NRA and vote accordingly oe Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein and now Bloomberg will get all of our guns.

I've declared and shipped firearms many times using the retail counter at a UPS distribution hub with no issues.

I have had zero problems with UPS as a shipper in terms of them accepting weapons from me (non-FFL) to ship to an FFL.

I have had problems for a time with my receiving FFL (local pawnshop) on internet (gunbroker.com) purchases. Initially they required that the weapon originate from an FFL in order to accept it. Bitter experience for them led them to this policy. However after we got used to each other and they realized all my purchases and transfers were old SxS guns, they waived it for me although they maintain for others. Most of their internet agent business is black guns and they are very careful in that trade as they want to stay in trade.

I have on one occasion ship a gun from my Father's home in Virginia to myself using UPS without issue. I personally went to the counter in Virginia to send it and fly home to Kansas and was there to accept it. I received no issue from UPS, but I did show them my Kansas Drivers license that contained to receiveing address and clearly explained what I was doing and why. I have found talking to them helps and carrying ATF and UPS policy print outs with the web address for them to check (they naver have yet) helps too.

I realize that their are uneducated UPS staff, but to date I have encountered good ones.

Same deal here with UPS. I've never had a problem shipping to an FFL, but I always make sure I have a copy of the receiving party's FFL with me. Only had to show it a couple times.

That is not USPS policy. I routinely ship guns and have never been asked for an FFL by the USPS. You can even ship from your house via USPS.com and they will come to your door and pick it up. I think you just ran into another ignorant anti-gun government employee.

Yup, they will accept from non-FFL's but will only ship to FFLs, that's why you're screwed tying to ship to yourself.

When I lived in Naperville IL the local USPS refused to ship guns even when I brought in a complete set of regs. And then those damn fools cry about not making any money these days. After going in with the regs and writing a formal complaint I ended up shipping from a neighboring community.

I guess I am lucky, my local UPS will ship as long as I show them it is going to someone with an FFL.

I think I did the same thing at my USPS office too.
