Those fired cases look like the rifle may have an "improved" chamber. The cases certainly have less body taper and a better defined shoulder than a case fired in my Krag.

No, the case is not "improved". It may look that way due to necking down to 25 cal but the body of the case is standard. Maybe the shoulder is on a different angle as it is pushed back a ways making for a longer neck. The necks did have to be shortened about 1/8".

Well it's no G&H, or Niedner rifle but it is a rather nicely done Krag, certainly much better than the usual and the metal finish seems to be excellent. Fix the forend cap and replace the waffle recoil pad and whiteline spacer and it would be right handsome.

I agree with WJL. The tip and the pad are really the only unaccepable parts of this gun.

Another nice Krag. I could certainly live with either but would like to take features from each and combine to make one really nice rifle. Actually I guess I am doing that with the one Steve Durren is building for me.
Wouldn't it be nice in .35 Krag for a woods carbine.

That second one looks fat through the midsection. Probably because he felt the need to cover the side plate with wood. Not being a fan of full stocks except when they're on Mannlicher-Schoenauers, my first thought was cut the fore arm and give it a dainty schnaubel but the barrel band is positioned wrong for that and by the time the checkering were removed and re-done things would be getting too skinny. Sorry, just the impure thoughts that race through my head when I look at gun porn!

On #2, does the extra wood on the port side add any strength or stability to the stock?
