well lets see now...as I recall my 64 beetle was often hard to start just after a rain, until I learned that if you pop off the distributor cap and wipe out the inside with a hankie, and put it back together and wait five minutes, she would start right up!

and why do the English serve their beer warm? because they don't have any ice?

keep it simple and keep it safe...

Because their Lucas electricals aren't worth a bucket of lukewarm spit-- watch enough movies with Limeys featured and you'll also see they drink their whiskey "neat" no ice-- maybe a splash of soda--

another interesting topic hijacked by individuals bent on showing how witty or smart they are, while they make uniformed assertions and baseless generalizations or vulgar and offensive attempts at humor - when they are not just outright insulting someone

Quite right, old chap- Uniformed assertions are usually made by those in the Military with at least a 06 rank. Actually, the Lucas eletrical "Fubars" were detailed in the book by Thomas Harris "Hannibal Rising" he was a police beat reporter in NYC for 20 some years before he wrote "Black Sunday" and "Red Dragon" and like the late James Michener, is a stickler for accurate and detailed information.

As far as the Limey based movies where senior British Officers ( and for that matter, a Japanses Col. as well) are seen drinking their whisky/ whiskey "neat"-- ie: "The Bridge on the River Kwai", "Breaker Morant" and more recently, again the the River Kwai classic, thus allowing for their drinking Scotch whisky, Quentin Tarantino's spoof on the OSS in WW11- "Inglorious Basterds (sic)"- his spelling of "born out of wedlock", not mine, by the by!!! Cheers
