sorry - uninformed assertions
Quite right, old chap- Uniformed assertions are usually made by those in the Military with at least a 06 rank. Actually, the Lucas eletrical "Fubars" were detailed in the book by Thomas Harris "Hannibal Rising" he was a police beat reporter in NYC for 20 some years before he wrote "Black Sunday" and "Red Dragon" and like the late James Michener, is a stickler for accurate and detailed information.
As far as the Limey based movies where senior British Officers ( and for that matter, a Japanses Col. as well) are seen drinking their whisky/ whiskey "neat"-- ie: "The Bridge on the River Kwai", "Breaker Morant" and more recently, again the the River Kwai classic, thus allowing for their drinking Scotch whisky, Quentin Tarantino's spoof on the OSS in WW11- "Inglorious Basterds (sic)"- his spelling of "born out of wedlock", not mine, by the by!!! Cheers
