Thanks for the effort as it is the script R I wanted to see. There may be some loss in resolution but you can always crop & scale. It may be that you need to open a Word type doc & paste in it while you assemble your files. Then post the whole lot in one thread. I've viewed several & Photobucket is a head above the rest as I have a gunny sack full of them.
Kind Regards,

It is an A&D Action Body sporting weapon more than likely made in Suhl with components from Rheinmetall, who had a hollow cavity/vessel patent sort of like Whitworth's where he drew tube steel, along with Wetzlaub & Jagd. engraving and I bet by Richard Keller. It may date from 1903 - 1912 if Eagle Nitro stamps aren't present. I wonder if this Heinrich Keller is the son of engraver Richard Keller on Krause's site: http://www.altejagdwaffen.de/Details.155.0.html?&no_cache=1&L=1&tx_fwwcat_pi1[showUid]=156 (Page II Nr. 206) Kind Regards, Raimey rse

It actually looks like a F.W. Keler Modell Nr. 104/105. Are there any monograms between the strikers on the standing breech or on the left side of the aft lug? the 40k serial number would have to originated at an established firm & I don't know that Rheinmetall would have turned out that many by WWI. Not sure on Keler but I'll look. So it is devoid of a Nitro stamp? On the right flat is what looks to be the initials JCM or is that wear from the water table? If on both, the he is pretty much our culprit.
Kind Regards,

Yes jcm, no nitro proofs. Interestingly chambers are 2 3/4 . Although I shoot only one 2 1/2 hand load in all my German guns. A. Chaber replaced both springs over 20 years ago and he found the 2 3/4 chambers interesting and said they were not recut.

Well, F.W. Keler surpassed 29k post 1912 and it could be several thousand less when the new rules were implemented, so he seems to be out. Let's chase JCM for a time being either a mechanic J.C. of Mehlis, which is highly possible or mechanic J.C.M. Although I have seen any specific test of strength for Heinrich Ehrhardt's hollow cavity vessels, I'd say they would be pretty stout for fluid compressed steel. The initials on the right flat seem in reverse.
