His grandmother's NID? I'd say that has family value.

Closest my grandmother ever got to a gun was in the 1920's -30's. She had to hit the pavement when some mobsters tried to take someone out doing a drive by in the Bronx. I like to think it was a Thompson. Family legend.

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

Gents it does have family value.I was kind of hoping to fix it up and hand down to my grandson. He would also probably want to shoot it. Yesterday I was able to get a line on parts. I hope that works out. I also found 2 box's of old shells that went with the 12 ga. they used to hunt with. That shotgun is totally beyond repair. Will keep you all updated.Thanks. Ed

If a gun has family value the price is not a major consideration. You will never sell the gun anyways. The money it takes to make the gun whole again is less than the amount that a new gun would cost. Plus what else can many of us hand down to our family that will have been with the family for four, five or six generations? Be patient and the parts will be found over time. Ebay is a good place to watch for the parts, plus others on this board often can help. I will keep an eye out for any NID 20's that may be parted out or beaters for you to strip parts off of. As they say you never know what you will see untill you look.

Comes in a 25 round 12GA Green & Red box.Has about 7 shells that are low brass green colored, with a red sticker on the end that has 3-1 1/8 9C
The other box is 12GA 2 3/4IN. Remington Dupont Kleanbore 4 CH.
NITRO EXPRESS
Extra Long Range
It is a 25 rd 12GA yellow/white box with Green and Red lettering.
Shells are green colored with high brass(copper)Has paper end marked NITRO 4 CH EXPRESS.25rds in this box

Mauserdad,
Roger Lenzmeier, 507-281-1687, has some NID parts. I suggest calling him to determine what you need and if he has it.
Good luck with your project.

I have my grandfather's old Baker Batavia Special - it remains the same, as the last day he put it up.
The old boy does work to this day and have shot some turkeys with it.
Nice to have an old family gun eh!
