I am Jules La Batchni's step-son. Along with my mother, he raised my sister and me from 1960 to 1970 in Santa Monica, CA. While growing up I watched hour-upon-hour as he hand-crafted custom guns for sale as well as commissioned by many a Hollywood star who would then show up personally to pick them up. Jules taught me to shoot at Roy Rogers ranch, as well as how to play the saxophone. I spoke several times with Michael Petrov providing him with intimate, first-hand accounts but we then lost touch. Very sorry to hear of his passing. I hope that someone continues his research on Jules or that I might come to get copies of what he had completed thus far. If anyone is sincerely interested in learning the truth about Jules La Batchni - first-hand accounts from someone who lived with him and worked in his shop for ten years...please feel free to reach out.
I haven't worked with guns in many years...but as I approach retirement I am hoping to begin a quest to find some of Jules' guns to begin a collection to hopefully enjoy myself then leave to my daughters.
Does anyone have any advice as to where I should begin my search? Thanks very much!
