I just picked up a Nimrod 16ga in pretty nice condition. On the side plate it says "Nimrod Hammerless". There is a standing hunter with gun stamped on the face of the breech with "Nimrod" underneath. There are no particular marks other than the usual 16/1 and 16 in an oval. There is a CS in an oval on one barrel and the barrels are rolled Krupp Flusstahl-ESSEN. There is no stepped water table. I thought it might have been a 30's gun before I bought it but now I think it must be must be much earlier. I assume CS might be the barrel maker.
Anybody have any idea as to a date? I know it's before the 20's The # is 22496 and it has been applied by individual punches not a roll mark. There are the usual Crown over U ,etc. The serial # is only on the water table and no place else. Last 2 digits on the underside of the forearm.
