I have used PB and Kroil and I could not tell any difference.

I have also used ATF and it seemed to work about as well as Kroil or PB, diesel and kerosene have worked for me also.

I think it has more to do with "soak time" and some how breaking the rust bond with heat or mechanical action than anything else.
