Well, kinda. The early model 37 barrels won't interchange like they do on a model 17, and there won't be an interrupter on a model 37 to prevent slam firing unless it was built post 1975-the Remington 17 doesn't slam fire. Most of what was redesigned was done just to keep parts interchange with the model 17 at 0%, so, nothing was improved, some things were simply cheapened, and the 37 got a slab sided look instead of the attractive bosses that a model 17 has.

A model 17 is worth the effort to get it running. They are trim, handy little guns with good shooting dimensions, that always had a 2 3/4" chamber.

I think his hands are already dirty, anyway.
