I am reassembling a 12 gauge Idea FW and I am having trouble with the latch block and coupler. I have done multiple LC's and never had this problem.

I can't seem to get the coupler into position on the top levefer so I can put the screw in. Actually I did it twice, but coud not get the top lever to move.

I have tried starting from the open, closed and part way open condition, with no luck. It apears the coupler latch is going to far into the coupler.

Yes I did get the coupler fully forward. Getting frustrated becuase I have done this at least 4 imes before with no real issues. Please give me your 2cents what I am doing wrong.

(Will the top lever not move until the spring and trigger guard are on position?)

Do you have a photo of the step that is hanging you up?

Gerry,make sure the coupler is inserted in the rotary bolt correctly.Could be a burr keeping it from fully going in. Bobby

Gerry, make sure that when you put the coupler into the rotary bolt that the end is coming out of the very tiny hole in the rotary bolt. It is on an angle and if not in that hole, you will not get the coupler pin to line up with the top lever shaft to put the screw in.

You were both right, I finally got it in today while playing with it on my luch hour. I was pushing it to far in. Had to angle it and keep the small end of the pin in the groove.

I just had this exact problem with the smith I am doing. Skeetx suggested to check for a burr in the small hole and low and behold when I cleared the little monster all went well.
