There was a lot more involved here than just the chopper lumps. The 21 was designed to use as much machine work as then capabilities allowed & it was priced competitively. It is a strong well built gun but what has driven the prices is Winchester Collectors, make no mistake about it.
Miller: I think you are right re the Winchester collector. But, I also believe the fact that only 30,000 were produced (relative scarcity), combined with the fact they are well made has something to do with it too. Also, Galazan charging an arm and a leg for his reproduction 21's hasn't helped the matter either.
