Barkley, Pieper made some nice guns. I know not all of what's been posted are hammer guns but they are from the same era. Without pictures, we can't offer much more than we have already. Here are a few more: 12 gauge Sidelock 2 16 gauges, four serial numbers apart 12 gauge boxlock

[/URL] Canvasback, I don't know if you have ownership of the above, but if you every find it apart, I'd really like to see the components. Difficult to discern, but it looks like a Kerner-Anson variant. Kind Regards, Raimey rse

Raimey, it does belong to me but it's with CJO right now for a repair. When I had the stock refinished a number of years ago, I foolishly did not have the inletting glassbedded. Was shooting it last fall and lost a significant chip from the left cheek. The two 16s have essentially the same action. Just missing the cocking indicators. I have one out right now being refinished (and glass bedded) and expect it's return in the next few weeks. I will definitely take some pictures and forward them to you.

Nice! Looks like steel barrels. When was it made? As near as I can find out, circa 1905. It was obviously made for the trade as there are markings in English, French and German on it.

I did a quick check of the barrels using the Skeets bore gauge and a caliper, and the barrel thickness appears to be at least .040" and over .100" in front of the chambers with no pitting. Both barrels have a choke constriction of .032".
It is an interesting gun, but I haven't fallen in love with it. The seller wants $600 for it. I think it would cost at least $100 to have someone hammer out the dents and over $100 to have Mike Orlen open both chokes. I offered $400 which the seller did not accept.
Thanks to everyone who provided comments. This has been an interesting exercise, and even though I didn't buy it, I now know a lot more than I did about these types of guns.
