I've had this 601 sxs 12b restocked. It fits and shoots quite well. However the poor thing has a single trigger. Could
someone make a guesstimate as to what the cost of changing to double triggers would be?

It is sporting gun designed for shotgun games that is why it came with single trigger. The cost for mass produced Beretta 0/U is $300 plus and conversion for this gun will be a lot more. Quite frankly functional single trigger is a plus and I would not convert to two trigger system unless single trigger mechanism gives problems.

Thats a simple enough job for someone with the parts and the knowledge of how to use them; Ive had it done in Spain for 200 Euro. But parts/knowledge is less common here in the US than in Spain. Id suggest contacting New England Custom Gun to ask if they would take the job and an estimate of cost if they would.

For some reason this thread stuck in my mind.

PJ may have a good point and this gun may have been built as a live pigeon competition gun. If the single trigger is non-selective and the chokes are IM/F to F/XF the gun may well be a pigeon gun. Other characteristics not unusual on pigeon guns include larger and more substantially built actions, beavertail fore ends with or without pistol grip stocks, and safety non automatic or no safety at all.

If the gun in question is a pigeon gun, and you intend to use it for something other than clays (or live pigeon) then its possible you are sinking money into a gun that wont be very well suited for your purposes. You might want to give careful thought to what the gun is, what you want to use it for, and how much money you want to spend on re-stocking and trigger conversion.

I think he said he already restocked it. I have no doubt someone like Kirk Merrington could do a single trigger to double trigger conversion, since the Spanish single triggers are copies of English single triggers.
But, it might be spendy.

I know Keith Kearcher used to do them, I think the price was around $400. I see that he's retired or something, his nephew has taken over the business. Don't know if his successor does it or not.

Good Luck!

The conversions I remember Keith doing were on SST Parker Reproductions. I think he had a bunch of parts for them. Not sure about other guns.

It is usually a quite complicated conversion requiring both sears and trigger blades to be replaced in addition the trigger plate needs to be fit for two blades. Easy if you have parts to swap, not so much if you are engineering things from scratch.
