I've used Wenig for duplicating on 3 occasions. Each job was where I furnished stock and fore and my own blank. My take is that they are adequate for my needs and budget(one job they did was subpar but salvageable). Their price point is attractive if basic machining is all you need...$240-$275. You must have patience and good wood skills to finish the job properly. As stated above, they leave a lot of wood in the grip. All Wenig's other products i.e. final inletting, wood, finishing are expensive and to me not worth their price. I have a stock job there now and we'll see what they will do with it, I'm sure it will be okay. There are more precise guys out there who will mill to better tolerances. Shane Thompson and John Vest 541-923-8898 were fellows sent to me by reliable sources but will cost $375-$500. In most cases I'd recommend spending the little extra money; I prefer to do things as cheaply as practically possible since this is a hobby and I can make up the diff in sweat equity. In no case would I send a sidelock to Wenig again but boxlocks are pretty easy. If you can, furnish your own blank...no surprises and you can lay it out to your liking. Good luck, the effort will be worth it.
