No Canadian interested in public affairs believes any place is safe from murderous fundamentalists, who will be punished within peace, order and good government.
With confidence in its institutions, Canada's response is not to blame the prime minister for an attack by an extremist who died within minutes from police bullets.
No scary talk concerning the acknowledged presence of at least 100 of these home-grown or alien nutters known to be back from battlefields.
Police and security see their duty and will do it.

First off Jim, The Star is a commie leftist rag, as ridiculous and then some as anything put out by MSNBC. If you want a more balanced understanding of Canadian news, (that's a big if, LOL) read the Globe and Mail or the National Post. One is centerist, the other a bit right, neither an apologist for any group.
Second, glad the radical is dead.
Third, glad Prime Minister Harper (through his subordinates) and all of our media immediately acknowledged the Muslim radical/IS connection. Not pretending it is something else as was the case with the Fort Hood shooter and others in the US.
Fourth, when we are called out as a nation, specifically, as we were by IS, to be a target of attacks, including and specifically by using a car to run people down, none of us expected to be spared.
King's insecurity about Canadians, Canada and its institutions, as exemplified by his constant need to tout even our dubious achievements, notwithstanding, I am pleased to see we have handled this affair reasonably well to date. Lunatic attacks, local police shoot to kill.
Might have something to do with taking place in Quebec. Their carefully cultivated sense of racial superiority known as "pur laine", french for pure wool, denoting the purity of one's bloodlines, leaves them with little patience for the foolish activities of "others". LOL

Police and security see their duty and will do it. Sugar coating not withstanding, the fact remains we are seeing the neo wild west rise before our very eyes. With a land mass rivaling the entire middle east and a population maybe a tenth of the US, the percentage of radical islamist is challenging. Perhaps, the highest concentration in North America. The fire power and lack of regulations to militarize Canadian law persons should truly alarm all drivers. The average Canadian though can sleep easy knowing that lessons learned will preposition uniforms with guns to prevent all future incidents. Should some of these unfortunate work place risks slip through the cracks, might I suggest doubling your vehicle registration fees and increasing the 'insurance' withheld from your paychecks to bolster cannabis for the poor programs and shovel ready jobs for all who have been trampled by the rampant corporate stranglehold infecting Canada.

What we're seeing, Craig, is not sugar-coating. It's a superpower smitten by fear and recriminations, not a single American or Canadian killed by the virus, Republicans blaming Democrats, Democrats blaming Republicans while Glenn Beck rants for weeks "It's insane. They're playing with our lives!" It's irresponsible, vulgar and ignorant. Front-page today in Canada's newspaper of record, The Globe and Mail, is "Politics, media and paranoia create plague of fear." Get a grip, for pete's sake. The African outbreak is manageable, as is the caliphate.

The African outbreak is manageable, as is the caliphate. King, I'm picking on you today! Yes they are manageable. When the people with the responsibility manage them effectively. What you describe as fear, recriminations, vulgar, ignorant and irresponsible, I think is the natural response to authorities who actually have been those things. Who have done a poor job of "managing". It is the response of common sense to political correctness and incompetence!

....Get a grip, for pete's sake. The African outbreak is manageable, as is the caliphate. I'm fine King, maybe just being a little queer as ms lonely might say. But, I do notice how you, meaning libs, 'manage' problems. Did you intentionally under report the number of radicalized islamic terrorists that are integrating in Canadian society by maybe 40%. Is there an ebola like infectious risk zone that ties up law enforcement by forcing the tracking maybe hundreds of known associates for each radical islamic killer. Outa sight outa mind?

Call the folks that question chicken littles, and then blame them, every time? Hmmm, we know there's short term memoryitis. I wonder what's up on the domestic social front while headlines are tied up with forgettable issues. Do I sense an opportunity.

Craig, please consider what's projected to the world and enemies who see us as soft and infidels: US going nuts because of ebola, IS and 50,000 young people at the border---all manageable without hand-wringing sky-is-falling. The Middle East is at war coping with millions of refugees. Unwarranted fear and blaming ourselves puts smiles on the faces of the caliphate.
