Sorry - took me a minute to find this. As part of the tensile strength testing, Dennis Potter graciously provided (among other samples) a segment of Remington 3200 c. 80s barrel, before the change from AISI 1140 carbon steel.
(See Loitz vs. Remington Arms Co., Inc., and Supreme Court of Illinois opinion filed Sept. 19, 1990. The subsequent Garza Class Action settlement participation eligibility ended 12-1-1996)
Measured tensile strength was 121,000 psi, which is about 15,000 psi
MORE than the industrial standard for 4140 gun barrel chrome-moly steel.
So Remington paid out a bunch of money for defective barrels, which were...like...not?? Confusing huh?
