Thanks for posting your findings. I suspected that, though I said "too deeply seated primers". You can usually feel that by just running your thumb over it, if you've reloaded as much as me and learned to check them like that. Glad it wasn't the gun.
I'm not so sure this doesn't happen during the seating process as often as it does by poor quality control with the primer manufacturing.

If the cleaning and primer issues don't solve the problem, I'd bet the hammer/mainsprings are weak. This gun uses a single leave short mainspring, and they sometimes loose tension, and need replacement. Someone out there has the replacements.
