I have a fine Richard Jeffery , Dougall lockfast patent pinfire. It has metal heel and toe clips. Same for a Harkom pinfire.

I think the full steel buttplate you fitted looks quite nice.

Much appreciated, it was the original one that was on there, had to alter the stock shape a bit but as i was extending and refinishing the stock anyway it did not matter too much. I'll leave time and wear to put some patina back onto the metal but i was really pleased with the fit.

I have a hammer to either weld up when time allows or replace when funds allow so when its all finished i'll get some before and after pics up.

Pictures as promised. The photo's are from my phone and are showing the stock to be a tango orange colour, which it is not. In real life its more of a deep red. Its about a week in to the stock finish, so a month or so will see it with a decent finish.

As it came to me

After re laying the ribs, beginning to brown the barrels; which fought me every step of the way.

After continuous effort the barrels actually came out really nice and this photo does them no justice.

Other hammer is still broken at this stage and it being welded.

Its perhaps a bit over restored for some tastes; but it was in really bad shape so i took it as an opportunity to practice several skills.

A bit annoying i couldnt find a better match for the extension.

I had some American walnut which was too brown, some walnut from NZwalnut which was too light, In the end i went with the european walnut pictured above in the hope that i would redden up with some alkanet, which it did to some extent. I do do a bit of painting and i have wondered about trying my hand at stock blending on this, so if anyone has any tips for it let me know.
