I think it does. The .303 British fits the chamber nicely, but not the boltface. I think this shows that the rifle was altered to some rimless cartridge, not .30-06, but not far off in size.

Even though a little large, it will likely still work.If a 30-06 goes into the chamber, it is too large for 303.I suspect it still has the 8.15x46R bolt head. Mike
