He is using ITX not steel
ITX Shot
ITX shot technology utilizes a proprietary binding material to blend powdered tungsten & iron pellets.
ITX Original-10: Manufactured to a target density of 10.0 grams/cc. ITX Original-10 is hard enough to maintain superior patterning and penetration, yet softer than any barrel steel. Original-10 is ideal for any shooter concerned with shooting non-toxic through their barrels, including double-gun shooters and small-bore shooters.
Only at BPI: We are your exclusive source of ITX Shot, made by TomBob Outdoors. All ITX products are proudly made in the USA.

Husky Paul, This is your gun and you can do what you want, but geese means steel shot, and I wouldnt shoot steel, if it were mine. Mike Why do you say that, Mike? He says he is shooting ITX. SRH

I have only limited experience with ITX, but I was using ITX 4's recently in my m/f choked Lefever, and I hammered a small canada goose at nearly 50 yds with the mod. barrel. They apparently pattern tight. I think #2's are the largest I would go, and even then only for large geese, imho.

I said it, because I missed that he is using ITX.Not being that experienced with the "new fangled"stuff, I would still be a little afraid of it unless the shot maker warranted that it won't hurt the barrels. Mike

ITX original 10 is some pretty nice stuff, I've been using 7/8 oz of 6's in my 2.5" 12ga and it has done a great job on widgeon, pintails, teal and mallards. I haven't shot any geese this season but got 5 with the 7/8 oz 6's and two with 1 oz 4's last season in my duck hunting spot.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Modified choke in a 10 is about perfect even for high geese with exposed vitals. There is no need to go to a full choke, especially with steel. Even if shooting a bismuth or a tungsten mix in BB, I wouldn't recommend a full choke. Agree 100%. JR
Be strong, be of good courage. God bless America, long live the Republic.
