I don't see what the big deal is. I can bend a stock in one day or less. I can even break it completely in half in one day.

When I ship barrels I wrap them in thin bubble wrap and slide them into a piece of 3 inch PVC pipe and ship them in the USPS triangular priority mail document boxes. They come in two sizes, at my post office they keep the longer ones behind the counter.

Just to add
As far as the ATF is concerned, if you wanted to send the frame-whole gun even as an unlicensed individual-as long as Orlen has a FFL,you can ship a long gun from the USPS-UPS and Fed Ex(use common carriers hubs-not pack and ship franchise's).

If you ship registered mail it will take longer I have had good success with Priority and it is generally a lot faster.

Thanks Dave. Priority as in USPS priority mail? I have used UPS (main hub here) before with no problems yet. But you recommend Priority Mail? I will look into that. I am not in any real hurry, but it would be nice to know that my gun barrels are safe in his hands rather than sitting around some loading dock or in some warehouse.

Just a quick note to all who may have seen the Mike's price list posted above: this one is not current. He has adjusted his prices up by about $5 (not on every item) since this one was publised in 2005. For instance, he currently charges $50 per barrel to open chokes vice the $45 listed above, and his price for forcing cone lengthening is $55 per chamber, with $20 on top of the total bill for return shipping. All quite reasonable in my opinion compared to a couple of jobs like this I have had done locally in the past. Additionally, very pleasant individual to speak with. Okay, gotta get these barrels in the mail. There's quail to be killed in Oklahoma!!

yes,I have used Priority Insured USPS (both before I was licensed and after) and had no issues. Both hubs for the common carriers are not close to my location.

A nonlicensee may not transfer a firearm to a non-licensed resident of another State. A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. The Postal Service recommends that long guns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun.

I recently sent a gun to Mike to have choke tubes installed in my Browning .410 o/u. The gun was returned to me in IN quickly and it shoots well. Tested it on the skeet range last week.
