Anyone ever hear of Alcan steel shells ? A fellow Parker member sent me 50 of them in 12ga. My 10ga paper wads fit snug, so I'm gonna try four of them tomorrow at clays.

Not as an insult, you must be pretty young. Alcan shells were very well known years ago. I think you will be very satisfied.

I have a box of Alcan 12 ga wads I picked up many years ago. They are combination plastic with felt inserts. Loading data printed on the side of the box. Of course all the loads use Alcan powder.

Lets see some pictures of these steel hulls. The Alcan catalogues I have show all brass hulls for Berdan primers and all brass hulls for G57F primers, along with conventional paper hulls, but nothing in steel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ITLXOy-vvQ

Started to make the same inquiry as skeettx, but then questioned my own memory. It wasn't something I was ever into. Have you done a simple magnet test? Best place to start, IMHO.

I have some and they appear to be Zinc coated. I use them for Black Powder loads.
