annealing, peening and then rehardening small metal parts has been practiced by gunsmiths for many, many years...
any of you ever read roy dunlap or walter howe?

ok, so do you care to suggest an alternative more permanent fix that is better than annealing, peening and filing to fit, and then rehardening of the tumbler cut out? after all, that is the process that was most likely used to fit the hammer cut out to the tumbler square to begin with?

and here is an interesting video that features the use of heat, hammer and file by skilled hands. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_gI3WX6Uww

Hey ed, why don't you give the guys links to your threads which endorse extreme anti-gun politicians like Michael Bloomberg? http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=388396#Post388396No need to worry about repairing guns after they are confiscated, right?

Stan, it is somewhat surprising that ed's reputation for half-assed fixes and cheap cosmetic acetylene torch coloring isn't yet known in England. Hopefully gunman doesn't get the idea that we all approve of, or practice African Bushman Gunsmithing over here.
It's noteworthy that ed is asking for a better alternative to his cheap and dirty temporary peening fix after LeFusil already recommended microwelding. He does have problems with reading comprehension.

micro welding seems like over kill...and far more costly than may be justified... fixing hammer guns does not necessarily require new technology...sometimes the old ways are all that are needed. and as for ed's reputation: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewUserFeedback.aspx?User=1285261532 and counting... yawn

This thread is about a "decent W&C Scott", not one of your off-face torch colored beauties that has to be photographed with the top lever partially open so that it appears left of center. Not everyone is interested in a cheap and dirty temporary fix just so they can sell a worn out piece of crap to some unsuspecting buyer who doesn't know any better, or how you operate.
Didn't you recently tell us that half of those Gunbroker feedbacks were acquired as a buyer? Why don't you tell us about why Dave ejected you, and three guns you were trying to sell, out of the For Sale section here a couple weeks ago?
