Thanks guys. I dropped the gun off today. Along with a reblue, recolor, and refinish of the wood, the stock will be cut down to 14.5 inches with a Silvers pad added. The gun has a pistol grip, and the smith and I both agreed cutting it down by a half inch would be much better. The next 6 months of waiting is going to suck.

Thinking you made a good call, gt1900.
I find it interesting that in all the remarks, no mention was made about the type of shooting & I'm of the opinion that can play a significant factor in the best length of pull w/some slight bias for longer on SxS's w/straight hand grips. Hunting winter pheasant in frozen field conditions with heavy clothing, a bit less. Shooting driven from a butt, a bit more. Shooting clays in decent weather and w/the gun too oft pre-mounted, somewhere in between.

I can shoot a straight-gripped gun with much longer pull than I can a pistol grip, or even semi-pistol grip. My big 32" A grade Fox is straight-gripped and is 15 3/8". It feels no longer when I shoot it than my 32" BE Fox with a fairly open pistol grip and 14 3/4" LOP. It seems to me that it is easier to shoot well with a straight-gripped gun that is a little too long, than a pistol-gripped one that is too long. However, I am not at all sure that one NEEDS longer LOP just because it is straight-gripped. JMHO, SRH

No, John, it was restocked when I bought it from Jay Schacter over ten years ago. It has a very nicely shaped semi-beavertail. Three inch chambered gun. SRH

Awesome gun, Stan. Thought it looked too good to be original. Love that beavertail; perfectly shaped. You know who did the work? JR

Don't know, John. Eightbore asked me the same question awhile back. I need to call Jay and ask him. Thanks for the compliments.
