Today I was nearby Hidden Hollow so I stopped by to check on preps for the May 18-20 Classic SxS Shoot and Exhibition. I caught Ernie Hausmann just back from the Southern with his sleeves rolled up, working on his 5 stand field along with a backhoe operator. Ernie takes in his traps for the winter and I saw where they've started to get them out in the field and on the courses. A dozer will be there tomorrow to make a road extension on the lower course.

He loaned me a cart and I drove around the course seeing how it fared with all the rain this spring. The roads were in good shape, no doubt testament to the % of rocks in the soil in Susquehanna Cty. The trees are starting to leaf out and it should be pretty green two weeks hence.

I asked Ernie how the Classic Main Event will work on Sunday. Listen up gents! He told me when shooters sign up for that event they'll name the mfr. of the gun they'll shoot, i.e., Fox, Parker, L.C. Smith, etc. The top 5 scores in each of the brands will be added together and that "team" will be named the brand winner for this year. Sort of a "Challenge" so to speak. Winchester won it two years ago, and Parker last year. Who will strut this year? Of course the top individual scorer will be named the Classic champ, make of gun doesn't matter.

For those who've never been to Hidden Hollow, here are some random pics taken by your roving photog. Silvers

Hausmanns are definately getting everything ready for the shoot. Last year was a very good time.

Some of the vendors for this year are Griffin & Howe, Geoffroy Gournet, Minisink Trail Fine Arms, Nickerson Sporting Collectibles, Outdoor Adventures, MUFASA Safaris, Fair Chase Inc, J.W. Hulme Co., PGS Gunsmithing & Susquehanna Stockworks.

The sponsors are RST, Ltd., Stephen Cobb & Gen-Two Sporting Clay Trap Controls.

Sure to be a great time for everyone. An excellent course to shoot and plenty of vendors to pick up those things you have been wanting. Hope to see you there.

I am planning on attending. I have shot there before at a Vintagers event and it was a nice course. I have heard that it is even better now.

Is it necessary to register for the Sunday final? Is it necessary to register for the prelim rounds Fri. and Sat.? Is there an admission fee to the exhibitors? If so, is fee waived for pre-registered shooters?

Rabbit, I'm pretty sure you can just register for any of the events when you get there, but you might want to email or call Ernie Hausmann just to be sure. Contact information is in the link on the first post. In past years there wasn't any entrance fee to the Exhibitors' tents. No "gate" so to speak... you just park your vehicle and walk to the clubhouse and the exhibitors. Oh yeah, no special clothing such as breeks is necessary. You'll see some folks wearing them, but you'll also see guys in shorts. Most of the attendees just wear decent slacks, etc. Silvers

The maps on Ernie's website are unreadable. Can someone give a good set of directions for those coming from the south on Route 81? Thanks.

Eightbore, go to the photos and links page and click on "Map 2". That will open up the map. It works fine and gives good directions for those planning to use I-81 North. Silvers
