No, I'm NOT putting one of these recoil redux systems on a Vintage SxS. But, I am strongly considering putting it on my competition gun (a tool) because I have a really bad right shoulder that I had surgery on several years ago.....it's tough getting old, capiche? What do you guys in the know think about the Isis as compared to the other recoil systems. What I have heard it is made out of tough Delrin and because it is polymer, and not metallic, it is not heavy and therefore does not dramatically change the handling characteristics of the gun. Thanks for your opinion.

The two guys I shoot SC with all year long, a father/son team, have put the Isis rrs on every gun they've bought for SC the past few years and have been very pleased with it.

GraCoil and ISIS are made similarly, but the GraCoil is made of aluminum, while the ISIS is made of plastic (polymer). If they will hold up, the weight savings may be a good idea. ISIS claims there is NO change of balance when adding one to a gun.

I can attest to the durability of a GraCoil, having used the same one on my Perazzi comp gun for about eight years with no problems. I am not sensitive to recoil, but it was on the stock when I got it, and I just left it there.

I've had an Isis on my Perazzi for 12 years. It is excellent and holds up well. Never had to replace any parts. It's comfortable to shoot.

Took the Paz to Mexico to shoot doves a few times. That's about a thousand rounds per day for 3 days straight. I was fatigued from shooting so much but never had a sore shoulder.
Of course it's important to have proper shooting technique and fitted gun.
If the gun don't fit and the shooter has poor technique, no recoil reducer will help.

Thanks guys for your thoughts on the ISIS. I wish my problems with recoil were due to poor form and an ill-fitting gun. My problem, however, has more to do with a surgical distal clavicle excision and impingement syndrome. If my problems were due to poor technique and a poorly fitted gun, I could remedy those problems. But alas, the ISIS..... I'm hoping it will help me.

I read this article last year about the evo recoil shield, decided to give it a try, and I'm very impressed with it.
I'd think it would work well for your shoulder injury, spreading the recoil force over a large, strong area.

And no mods required to your gun... ;-)
