B.Dudley,
I am interested in this thread because I just came into a Mauser Oberndorf 30-06 with a Lyman 35 sight(not for sale)mounted. It has "US 1906" on the reciever ring, and Germany on the removeable floorplate(pre WW1 "Army Model" w/stepped round barrel and 2 stage trigger). Are any of these features on your rifle?Mine has a base ahead of the reciever that may have been either a undovetailed sight base,or where a tangent sight was removed and the base milled flat.Does yours have any other sights other than the missing Lyman? Mine is Serial numbered in the 1912 range, is yours pre WW1 or Post( pre would be Oberndorf and would have Mauser number under the reciever and on rear of Mag box).If post, it would be a surplus military action w/markings removed.
Post Oak,
What about yours? If you think the Lyman was mounted later, does it have other sights?

Mike
