Mine is a JP Sauer built rifle. It is marked as so on the raised matter rib. It does have a rear site with one flip up sight. And a front sight. However, the front sight does stand a bit taller than the rear sight. I understand that the Lyman 35 required the use of a taller front sight.

Aside from the wood Inletted out under the bolt release for the Lyman, the other thing that made me suspicious of the rear sight that is currently on my rifle is that it is barely able to be seen over the receiver ring. I have another 98 safari rifle in 30.06 (with 28" barrel no less), that has a grove cut in the receiver ring for better sighting path. This one does not and I can barely see the rear sight over the ring.

I suspect that the Lyman was removed at one time and this rear sight just thrown in or something. Who knows.
