Could be wrong, but I think the SKB guns are the only true sidelocks (they're hand-detachable, so not much doubt on them) currently coming out of Turkey. And the previous Kimbers were also sidelocks--but were also $5K+ guns, back when you could still get an AyA #2 for less than that. It will be interesting to see how well the higher grade Turkish SKB's sell.

Actually Larry, any of the Dickinsons, including hand-detachable sidelock ejectors, can be ordered through

Thanks for the info on the dickinson catalog and west coast armory...I was under the impression they were only available through Cabelas. I have a couple of DeHaan sxs's that are sideplated boxlocks; a 28" barrel 28 ga. and a 30" barrel .410 and have a ball shooting and hunting with them.

Wild Skies, I could have worded my post better. I should have said that I'm unaware of any Turkish sidelocks currently in inventory with any dealers, other than SKB's. (You can see some of those, available at Jaqua's, on either the Jaqua website or Guns International). I'd be interested in knowing if there are any Dickinson sidelocks currently available for viewing here in the States. Right now I'm thinking it's a bit like Bernardelli, which was also bought out by Turks: I've seen some pictures of nice guns in a catalog, but I have yet to see any of the guns.

Woops. Need to revise the above. I do see a couple sidelock Dickinsons on GI--both a sxs and an OU--advertised by Sprague Sports.

So the only question remains: Will the latest Turkish sidelock offerings, SKB and Dickinson, sell any better than the Kimbers did? With the increases in Spanish sidelock prices, they might sell if the prices looked like a bargain. But the SKB catalog has an MSRP of $6500 on theirs. I don't think they're going to sell very well in that price range. But the Dickinsons are listed at $4,000. Maybe that's low enough for some people to take the plunge.

Saw the new Dickinson Plantation guns today at the Cabelas Gun Room in Atlanta. One in 20 and one in 410.

I didn't pay much attention to the 20 but here is the info on the 410. Very nice piece and a lot of gun for the money. ($2200 price tag)

410 bore
28" barrels
Solid raised rib
Mod/mod fixed chokes
Ejectors
Double triggers

I tried to find something on Cabela's where I could get a closer look. However, that does not look like a sidelock to me. Obviously not hand-detachable. But there appears to be a lack of pins/screws for a sidelock. Matter of fact, there looks to be a joint in front of the second screw from the front. If that gun's a sidelock and that's where the plate detaches, then it's a very different design from your typical bar action gun. The joint should be further forward, ahead of the front screw. But maybe that line I see between the two screws is just engraving. If so, still kinda odd.

Newsflash Larry, it's already been determined previously in this discussion that it's a side PLATE gun.

News flash for you, John: Dickinson sidelocks do exist. (Note the below quote, and the title of this thread.) Just pointing out that this does not appear to be one of them. A lot of people here can usually spot the difference between a sideplated gun and a sidelock, but it would be a mistake to assume that all posters and lurkers can. It's been some time now, but I can recall my own mistaken belief that any gun with plates like that was a sidelock.

Adam's latest is a followup to this older post -- he specifically talks about the "Plantation" guns, nothing to speculate about as to whether it looks like one or would have to be a new sidelock design.
