Does the gun have a one piece or two piece floor plate ? Not much help if it has a single piece trigger/floor plate but, If it's two, you could pop the front one off and check if it's cocking ok, may not solve the problem but it could point you in the right direction. If it doesn't cock at all, the problem area is probably near the knuckle or fore end so may not need the stock removing.. on the other hand, If a tumbler doesn't lock and returns when you close the gun it could be a damaged sear or dust and crud in the bent . If they lock, it'd point to a trigger/safety problem , which would require a full strip. It'd do it on harm to strip it, give it a clean and a light lube while the tools are out, they always feel nicer after.
