Tudurgs, Yes you can do that.
Just remember, Welding means fusion.
Filler rod is for filling, or replacing.

There is no technical reason that two similar metals cannot be enmeshed with a limited heat affected zone.


It's not unlike using coat hangers to repair exhaust systems in our impoverished youth. Homemade welding filler rod, or wire, in the case of coat hangers.

Hill's does not have a FFL, and cannot accept receivers for welding. This answer from them via email yesterday.

Oh well. Back to square one.
