To paraphrase the common expression " What would Lindner do?"
I believe Lindner, and most other of his contemporary quality gun-makers across Europe and Britain would have said that that every once in a while, when sufficiently worn, barrels needs to be re-browned or re-blued. I don't think they would have advocated that they be hidden away in safes and only handled with kid gloves. They are tools....very fine tools but tools none the less and meant to be used and well cared for.
The fixation on originality in North America is a predictable outcome in a category of collectibles where deceit is possible and probable.
