I was at the range last week with my 16x16x222 Rimmed. It's an interesting little gun. I did some load testing and zeroed the Hensoldt scope to the load I had selected. It delivers the first shot right to the point of aim at 100 yards. That's great. Right on the money from a cold bore. What's interesting is the second shot is 3 inches above the first and the third 3 inches above the second. Shots four and five are right in close with shot three. Let the barrel cool down a little bit and it shoots right back to the original point of aim. I guess as long as I make the first shot a good one I don't have anything to worry about.

That isn't uncommon among multi-barreled firearms. Every one of my drillings will walk if fired fairly rapidly. Then, as you mentioned, after about the 3rd shot they hold in a group. There is one barrel warming, the rifle barrel, and two barrels still cool. The rifle barrel is trying to expand and the cool shotgun barrels are trying to keep it from expanding. At least that's my take and what others with greater experience have told me.

Vic, your "take"is correct. You ought to try it with a sxs combination gun-really wild. This is why the sighting has to be checked from a cold barrel.I just take more than one rifle to the range and shoot one while the other is cooling. Mike

I have that Jost & Diehl combination gun in 10.5 X 47R and it doesn't walk as fast as my drillings. However, the barrels are a lot heavier than any of my drillings, (probably due to the gun being fairly early), and it is a black powder load....'course that stuff burns pretty hot. I have wondered how much and how fast a Nitro combination gun would walk. Evidently quite a bit, eh?
Depending on the season I may mow a little lawn or do a little work in one of the gardens between shots or, as with this latest rifle for which I only have one case, go reload it....lol. The other brass arrived from Buffalo Arms today....along with some familiar looking bullets from a familiar address...thanks Mike.

Vic, the sxs walks to the side and up.If you only have one 10.5x47R case, just make some more, I can't believe 45-70 cases are scarce around your house (maybe some with short splits in the neck). You are welcome, I hope they work for you. Mike

lol!!! No Mike, I have a full box of 20 of 10.5 X 47R cases. I sacrificed a box of my old 43 Mauser, Buffalo Arms cases to make them. Then replaced them with a box of Bertram 43 Mauser brass. Now that I've learned more about this cartridge forming game I'll use 45-70 if I need more. I only have the one case for this new little rifle. Well, I did until last night. The brass came yesterday and I cut them off, trimmed them, opened the case mouth to take the 9.3 bullets and am going to load them shortly.
Surprisingly there is no 45-70 brass at my house anymore. When I got my Montana Roughrider in 45-90...goodness...over 20 years ago, (dadgum...I didn't think I'd had that rifle that long!!), I sold all my 45-70 stuff. It is easy to come by though.
I haven't tried the one H&G bullet I have loaded....just been too doggone cold and windy.

Vic, I'm sorry, I forgot to suggest that you load a dummy 9.3x72R with a .368 bullet and see if it would chamber, before cutting all the cases off. I hope you were correct about the chamber being 65mm long. You could use 45-90 cases also, for the 10.5, if you have a box with split necks. Mike

And when you get them right they can be so accurate. With a bunch more cleaning it is doing as well or better with 90gr .264 bullets sized to .260 6.5x58R Sauer This at 100 yards with the7x57R.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Great results those oskar!!
Not problem Mike. I had that one case I made from a 9.3 X 82R and the .368 bullet slipped easily inside it after firing. I couldn't stand it any longer and after loading a few stepped out the back door and let one go at my steel buffalo target about 80 yards away. Couldn't see the white target very well amongst all the white stuff on the ground and missed.
