I'm also thinking about how to adjust your lighting so there isn't such an obvious dark area where the barrels are. The sides plus top and bottom are well lit but the middle is missing light.

Yes that is a problem and it comes from having a shallow depth of the case. It is only 6 inches so I can't have light directed back to the center as most cases often have that have 12 inches or more depth. The poles are made of cold roll steel welded to steel door hinges.

Your idea is the line I have been working on but hadn't thought of using a shotshell as the starting point.

Lagopus
That is very close to what I was looking for. I have not seen these before and will look into them more.

Tudurgs
That idea is where I started as I once remember seeing a locking hing where a key was inserted into the pin. I did an extensive search and couldn't locate anyting remotely close.

To others,
My idea was to keep whatever locking device I settle on as unobtrusive as possible and make it a puzzle so it would take a theif or other person some concerted thinking and effort to get the guns off the rods.

I don't really want to put locks on the trigger guard for a number of reasons. First they detract from the gun depending on size and design, there is no puzzle, the guns are different lengths and if you can notice the rear holder is positioned behind the trigger guard to allow for different lengths of barrels and different types of guns. I have an Ideal with lunette triggers and a design with a locking trigger guard might prevent it from being displayed in the case.

Wingshooter 16
That is exactly what I am thinking but haven't found the components to make it work. As I mentioned in my opening post I tried the locking components from a treking pole but for some reason they wouldn't expand properly and hold.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
