Came across a fifties era Model 37. While examining it, I discovered that it had a left hand safety. The dealer was surprised and quickly re-tagged the gun. How much of a job is it to install a right hand safety? I may be able to find one, but I don't want this to turn into a costly project so I'd prefer to do it myself, if feasible. I know my limits. Thanks.

Jorge: I think it would make more sense to sell the gun and buy a right-hander. I'm willing to bet you'd have no trouble finding a lefty who would love to find a Model 37 already set up for him. TT

Nothing to changing out the lefty safety. Just depress the spring loaded keeper and push the safety out, right to left. Right handed safeties are easily available, but there are at least two versions around, so be sure to check the serial number reference to be sure you get the old style part for your gun. Then replace the safety by pushing the new one in the opposite direction and depress the keeper till the slot is through the trigger guard...Geo

Thanks George. I'll give the new Ithaca parts dept a call in Ohio and see if I can dig up an old style. Thanks for the tip on the two versions.
