Ithaca advertising was consistent for many years, they kept hammering away at lock time. Always stating how important it was and that Ithaca was the fastest. They even had it measured at a university. Interesting no competitor ever disputed them.
I agree with Greg. They went for the common user. They seemed to have understood early on about having multiple sales outlets. Their guns appeared in many catalogs.
