I shipped a set of 28 bore barrels USPS ground 3 weeks ago for bluing and they never arrived. Despite a tracking number, the United States Postal Service has NO idea where my 100 year old and irreplaceable barrels are and frankly, their government employees don't give a damn. I will NEVER again use USPS for shipping anything of value.

Did you submit a complaint? You probably did, but often a package "turns up" once one is submitted. A friend of mine deals in antique fishing poles, it seems some are "misplaced" but found after he submits one.

Bad luck Buzz. The Post Office has been my favorite for shipping guns for years. I use Priority/Insured.

The only gun I ever sent Registered was lost for a couple of weeks, then found. With Registered every hand it goes through must sign and be responsible. In that case a postal employee went on vacation before she could hand the gun off to another agent and she hid it in her locker or somewhere for safe keeping.

In my case my local post office employees were quite concerned and helpful. Here's hoping your barrels show up in a similar fashion...Geo

Sorry to hear about your problem.
The only time I ever had a problem with USPS was on some gun parts that came from out of the country and never showed up.They were finally located and it was determined the shipper had totally screwed up my address so it wasn't the Post Office's fault.
FX and UPS are too darn expensive and way to nosy about what you are shipping.

Most affirm on USPS, Priority Mail w/insurance. Or, if whatever is being shipped is valuable enough to worry about, Priority Mail Express w/insurance.

Wow, Buzz. I am really sorry to hear that.

I think I know where they were going and I have had the best experience with USPS to the same place and back again. It was the snails pace of the Canadian side of the equation that was bothering me, but at least I got them back eventually.

Don't give up hope!

At least USPS usually honors their insurance. Granted, irreplaceable things can never be adequately insured. But I've had two large claims that were fully insured, and losses that were fully (monetarily) settled.

I only use USPS Priority Mail and insurance. Granted, the tracking is pathetic but as others have noted they pay, unlike the private companies.
