I shipped a package priority mail to a well known gunsmith on the west coast containing a wonderful piece of english walnut for him to turn for me. It got there with a hole in the side of the box and the contents gone. It had a tracking number and they tracked it all the way to his house. Course they were tracking a now empty box. I had not insured it although I think it automatically had $50 worth of insurance. In summary I was hosed. Even claiming the $50 was a hassle to the point where I gave up. As I recall I sent them some pictures of the inside of the empty box and the hole in the side and they said the package had been packed improperly and they wouldn't pay. I mean the hole was in the bottom of the box. No doubt some machine caught it while sorting and ripped the bottom of the box out. Anyway, I gave up and said "Uncle".

I still use them because it easy (I can walk to the post office), but I now overpack everything and insure the hell out of it.
