Packages get trashed in shipping all the time. The USPS tracking service is the worst of them all, even the Amish. Sad to hear of your loss and the only hope you have is to keep bugging them. The quiet compliant gets no action at all from them.

I have had claims with USPS, FedX, UPS and Airborn both for work and personal shipping. They all suck to some extent. UPS and FedX both claimed that the item was over insured and or improperly packaged. USPS claimed poor packing, refused to accept item valuation, refused to accept they damaged items in shipping. If I was due 20-30K insurance value over the years I would be lucky to have recovered 20%.

When the insurance company is the same as the shipper and they determine their own responsibility the claims are hard to collect on. It is like the defendant is the judge, jury and accused all at once. No conflict of interest there. Good luck with your claim or better yet your package arrives at last, intact and undamaged.
