I tried to post the most relevant drawings only. Anyone wanting more Hollenbeck/Baker patents posted or the text, just say so. I'm still experimenting with picture size...hope this works...

I have all the locks off of my guns. I will try to get pics tomorrow. I have an early twist barreled Baker 10ga with no engraving (low grade gun) that has the extra barrel lugs, it dosent have intercepters but does have the threaded hole for the screw that the intercepters swivels on. Pics tomorrow.

DGB, That patent evolution is actually my research work, Larry shouldn't have included it in his book. The Allender patent was of particular significance to me because of the possible Flues connection, but more importantly to stop the so called Baker authorities from continuing to pass bum scoop. For years the Baker loud mouths told everyone who asked, that the "Patented Aug 12 1884" that's engraved on the bottom of many actions was in fact a "Fake" patent. It sort of became a personal mission to dispell the disinformation they were trowelling out. Those guys have been passing bum scoop and disinformation about Baker shotguns for as long as I've been into double barrels...with their "prototypes" and fake patents...Thank God, that you guys have arrived on the scene.

I may well be the responsible party for the fake Patent date fiasco. There was a New Era at David Condon's years ago that had the patent date around the circle on the trigger plate as 24 Aug 1884. Enough other people picked up on it that I guess it was not the only one so engraved. After I moved out here to the Spokane area I found this New Era that has the correct 12 Aug 1884 patent date. Mia culpa!

Here's the last to Hollenbeck patents assigned to Baker..
at least the last two that I have found...of about 20 or 21 Hollenbeck patents, only three are assigned to Baker...505794 is unusual in that it's assigned to Syracuse Arms although Frank still resided in Batavia (7/25/92). Then on June 10, 1893 he appears in Syracuse and that patent [519126]is assigned also to Syracuse...
.
So...June 19, 1886 he lived in Syracuse, Jan 15, 1891 he's in Batavia 'til at least 7/25/92, then June 10, 1893 he's back in Syracuse

Robert,
I don't have any idea whose work it is or isn't. I found the reference in Larry's book so that's where I qoute it from. After seeing the patent it sure looks like what is hiding in my guns.
Does Hollenbecks last patent apply to the boxlocks that Baker built? I'm not up to speed on the Syracuse inards.
Did Baker patent the change to the cocking bar?? I know they went to a rod that ran paralel to the barrels through the barrel lump in later years.

dgb...I figured...I just thought I would tell you...
.
About the Syracuse inards...I'm not up to speed either...or I would probably tell you that I can barely tell the difference between a Syracuse and a Baltimore inards...Now I don't want anyone to get their fur up over this observation...I'm just sayin' that Baltimore and Syracuse guns are more closely related than we think...Hollenbeck being the common denominator (I guess)
.
as far as the cocking bar is concerned, I'm assuming the first time that mechanism appears in the patent record is Hollenbeck's patent 481327 pictured above...which further helps to date Baker No.38, as it has that cocking bar

Well here are the pics of the sideplates from some of my Bakers. They are all "B" grades except the bottom one #6126. It is a plain grade nonengraved gun but has the threaded hole for the firing pin intercepter but no intercepters. Also notice the different types of intercepters.
