If you ever make it up to Hausmann's for the NE Classic I'd love to see some of your Foxes in hand.

Mike I'll be there and sitting with Dan Rossiter. Both my custom Foxes will be with me. The AbbyGun and also the little 20 gauge custom that just got completed. Dan will have his booth in I assume the same place as last year which is in between Vintage Firearms and the CSMC booth.

The new SKB looks like something off of Petticoat Junction with that train trestle on top. Never cared for a vent rib on a sxs.
I was really excited about the long barrels as well. Definitely deflating.

Got to handle a 30" .410 SKB yesterday. It was the 250 with the solid rib and side plates. A lovely gun that felt to be very well built and handled well. I was impressed. The rib was very high on this gun, but when shouldered it looked fine. I need to start saving my pennies for one.
Regards,
Jeff

JNW,
Was there a 28ga solid rib that you may have handled?

High, as in a high flat rib, Jeff?

Yes, a high flat rib. It sits above the barrels. I have not had the opportunity to handle a 28 gauge.

I handled these SxSs at the SHOT Show. They did feel well balanced and the wood/metal fit and finish both looked good too. The 20/28 2 barrel set seems like a good deal. If I was looking to purchase a modern SxS I would seriously consider these, especially for hunting use.

The solid rib is high on those new SKB's. That being said, they have a decent feel to them.

I tried a high vent rib on one of the last Japanese SKB's. Figured it'd be an OK target gun. Did not work out for me. I knew something was wrong when I missed 4 or 5 low 7's in a row. I figured that with the raised rib, I'd float the target. Didn't work. Had to cover the target in order to hit it. I can't adjust to that (except maybe on a trap gun, and I don't shoot trap very often), so it went down the line. Have no idea how the VR works out on the Turkish SKB's. At some point, I'll probably field test one of the solid rib 28's. Still waiting to see whether those guns will sell at list prices, or whether there will be significant reductions--like on the Dickinson, S&W, etc.
