'rubber bumpers'

I ordered one from Galazan and one from Jeff's Outfitters. Prefer the one from Jeff's but don't remember why. Look at both.

Hi all, here's my dedicated duck gun, it's a Bernadelli Italia (had it tubed for steel shot by Briley BTW). If you look behind the trigger guard you'll see one of those "finger bumpers" they do work. I think I got mine from Galazan.

Best,

Greg

I will look into those. Didn't realize they were available as accessories. Thanks for the tip!

There is truly no distinctions in either shooting or handling qualities which are determined by whether the gun has external, internal or a "True Hammerless" action. The only real distinction is ease of cocking. This is not generally a problem on a target range. There are some hunting situations where it is not a problem either.
Personally, being a person with small hands & a short thumb, when walking in for a covey rise over a pointing dog/dogs & with no desire to actually put the gun into a firing condition until it is on it's way to my shoulder I find a Hammerless works best for me. Thus for me it's LLL (Long Live Lefever).

Hmm, another bit of hunting etiquette with dogs I was not aware of. 2-piper, I wonder if you might consider starting a thread of common courtesy and etiquette when hunting upland with dogs? I suppose there are books for this, but a simple list of practices considered wise to follow by guests hunting with dog owners or guides would be greatly appreciated, and maybe enlightening for others besides myself. I have never hunted over dogs, but hope to do so this coming season, and after safety first, would like to not come off like a buffoon on my first time out, never to be invited back. Just a thought. Thanks

What a fine looking double you have there Greg. May I ask how it's choked, and what loads you like to use for duck?

Thanks Wahoo for the kind words. I had the bbls tubed by Briley for steel shot (their thin walls). I got the 5 tube deal (IC, Mod, IM & 2 full). I will say that the tubes do throw the correct choke pattern for each tube. As to the loads, I've been using Estate 2 3/4", 1 1/4oz of #2 steel @ 1330fps. We only shoot ducks over decoys, so we don't shoot the high velocity loads. I use the full choke if we're hunting geese.

Been having success using this combo for the last few years. So, I'll stick with it.

Thanks again!

Greg

Which choke(s) do you use for the duck?
